Born and raised in Maryland & Georgia, Renia holds a BA in journalism from Howard University. She went on to earn an MFA in creative writing from Cornell University where she is now a lecturer teaching writing. Her work appears or is forthcoming in The Body Narratives, The New Guard, Stone Canoe, The Offing, Prelude, Sonora Review, Tahoma Literary Review, Slice and elsewhere. Winner of the 2016 Sonora Review Poetry Contest, she also received the 2015 Hurston/Wright Founding Members Award and has been a finalist for honors from Yemassee, Cosmonauts Avenue, and other journals. She splits her time between Ithaca and Brooklyn, NY.
